LCEHS Closing Ceremony On May 15, 2007, LCEHS held it's closing ceremony in the school gymnasium. The entire student body and several hundred distiguished guests attend the event that marked the end of the school's 56 year history. Featured speakers included former LCHS teacher for 35 years Polly DeYoung, former principal Carl Albrecht, and the keynote speaker, David T. Johnson, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in London. An LCHS Senior read his essay "We Are LCHS" and a 7th grade student read his poem "What LCHS Has Meant To Me." The LCHS Concert Choir and Concert Band performed "Alma Mater" and the "LCHS Fight Song" A letter from President George Bush was read, as well as letters from distinguished alumni, including investigative reporter Dale Van Atta, writer and film producer Robert Davenport, Dan Peek from the band America, and RCA recording artist Bo Bice. Former and current students and staff of the school and dorms were also recognized. The AFJOTC unil retired the school flag, marking the end of the ceremony.
